I didn't necessarily mean for you to have to do the research, I more or
less meant the current maintainers (altho if anyone else did it to help
speed up the process, more power to them).
I definitely think this needs to be implemented in evolution the sooner
the better as you aren't the first person to ask for this and it's
probably not all that uncommon a setup.
Anyways, I thank you for trying to research it a bit yourself, I think
that's an awesome gesture.

I wasn't able to find any technical information on this functionnality.
I finally decided to give up and come to a more standard alternative,
that is use sasl authentication on the smtp server.
In case anybody find a solution one day, I might be interested.

Hi,
I will do some research and try to have an argumented feature request.
Thanks for taking the time to give me an informed opinion.

Evolution uses the Mozilla SSL libraries which I would have thought
would have done this "auto-magically" but seemingly it does not. It
could probably be added to the code, but someone would have to do the
research into the Mozilla SSL libraries to figure out how to make it
send the cert.
Feel free to submit a feature request to bugzilla.gnome.org

thanks Erik for your response.
In fact Postfix' logs indicate that Evolution is not sending a certificate.
So my question is more :
Is Evolution supposed to be able to do it (and then what is the magic) ?
or is it just not a feature of evolution and I should stick to Mozilla ?
(or even Outlook for what it matters !)
I can only say that I'd like to know as well.
