Re: [Evolution] Import from csv

Just for completeness, it's worth pointing out that there are two places
where limits might apply to the number of LDAP entries searched:

1) Within Evo, the LDAP config can specify Max Entries and Max Timeout.

2) The LDAP *server* can limit the number of records returned in
response to a query. This often happens if the query is anonymous, to
limit address harvesting. We limit our server to 20 records for this
reason, which works fine for address completion but not so well for
arbitrary contact lookup.

I was able to import all the addresses from my CSV file to a new contact

list to be used in autocompletion, but it's not working.

Is it just too many contacts for Evolution to handle? Is that why LDAP
is maxed at 1000?

No. Just verified this. :)

I created a vcf file containing 17576 contacts (26^3, aaa..zzz) and
imported it. Actually, got bored waiting and canceled the import at 5300
contacts. So I have an address book with 5300 addresses, that just works
fine with auto-completion.

Note: The composer only shows contacts for auto-completion, if they
actually happen to have an email address set. Please check your imported
contacts -- do they have an email address set, if you open 'em in the
contact editor?

Another one: Auto-completion by default triggers after at least 3 chars.
