Karim,

Glad it worked and that I was able to help.

Steve,

I am also running 2.4.1. The rebooting thing worked, after I had installed a random selection of ldap-related packages. I won't figure it out this time ;-)

As for the search, it's working fine, I am connecting using a DN. To test that my connection settings are correct, I installed a standalone ldap client called luma (using Ubuntu, i just apt-got luma).

Karim,

What version of Evolution are you running?
Iam running 2.4.1 and when I set mine up it did the same thing to me over and over again.
I had to reboot twice after the intial setup and then the error went away.

My problem is now it appears to connect, however when I do a search for a name in the ldap contact list I get no information displayed and the search takes less than a second to complete, and the company has around 3,000 email addresses.

Try rebooting, if this does not work the first time, delete and re-set the ldap, then on the addess book properties window ==> display tab ==> click on find possible search bases, if that returns information select it (means that you are at the least talking to the ldap server (and this is far as I have been able to get with mine)).

Hi all,

I'm trying to create an LDAP address book, without success. After entering the LDAP server info in the Address Book Properties, I get an uninformative error telling me:

"Error Loading Address Book: We were unable to open this addressbook. This either means you have entered an incorrect URI, or the LDAP server is unreachable."

Any hints on how I can troubleshoot this issue?

TIA,
Karim
