Karim:
Some other questions:
Can you use this LDAP server under other applications?
Does ldapsearch -x work?
I had similar problems with evolution connecting to an LDAP server, but it was incorrect settings
in my ldap.conf file. Once I figured them out, I was able to connect much better.

Karim,
What version of Evolution are you running?
Iam running 2.4.1 and when I set mine up it did the same thing to meover and over again.
I had to reboot twice after the intial setup and then the error wentaway.
My problem is now it appears to connect, however when I do a search fora name in the ldap contact
list I get no information displayed and thesearch takes less than a second to complete, and the
company has around3,000 email addresses.
Try rebooting, if this does not work the first time, delete and re-setthe ldap, then on the addess
book properties window ==> display tab==> click on find possible search bases, if that returns
informationselect it (means that you are at the least talking to the ldap server(and this is far
as I have been able to get with mine)).

Karim Ratib wrote:Hi all,
I'm trying to create an LDAP address book, without success. Afterentering the LDAP server info in
the Address Book Properties, I get anuninformative error telling me:
"Error Loading Address Book: We were unable to open this addressbook. This either means you have
entered an incorrect URI, or the LDAP serveris unreachable."
Any hints on how I can troubleshoot this issue?
TIA,
Karim
