Re: [Evolution] Does Evolution retrieve email even when it is not being run??

Hi Not,

True enough Jeff. But at the same time I think Ximian (at the time)
should have investigated this and done something to rectify the
situation (filed a bug with KDE, coded some workaround, etc.). Perhaps
they did. I don't know.

Unless people file bugs we can't tell they exist. All repeatable,
common crash bugs get attention in a fairly timely manner. Everything
since 1.2 has been pretty stable for me.

That's great to know Not. I mean the attention that is given to common
crash bugs that is. Truly!

Just a side note on people filing bugs though. It's been my experience
that most people simply don't file bugs. Including me :). It's too
much of a hassle. Even through the automated bug thing that pops up
asking if one could send bug info to a project it's too much of a
hassle.

I know, I know if people don't file those bugs the software won't
improve as much as it should and I, along with other users, will be
partially responsible for not ending up with a relatively bug free
program. What can I say? My knowledge has not caught up with my
practice yet :).

I once tried to file a bug through bugzilla and gave up in frustration
at trying to figure out how to file a bug through the zilla something
program. It was nothing but an exercise in frustration. That was with
Mozilla by the way. Not Evolution.

With regard to crash type bugs I think most people would experience that
on first trying Evolution such that, not having yet made much of an
investment in using the program, they would be much more inclined to
reject the program as not worth using than they would be to file a bug.
So I think such bugs are one's that developers have to sort of generally
find through daily use of the program themselves.

Incidentally I am just curious, what do most people at Novel use for an
email client? Does Novell require people to use Evolution? Or are most
still using Microsoft Outlook or an email client of their choice? If
you don't feel comfortable answering that no sweat but I am just
curious.

Carlos
