i also have the . at the top, and filters and new mail notification dont work since it is imapoffline that gets the mail and sticks it in the maildir, evolution just scans the dirs and finds new ones but since it isnt the actual mail client it doesnt process the incoming mail (after all it isnt incoming to evo). maybe the evo developers should think about adding this feature?
