When I start Evolution I get a splash screen which is greyed out (like a

Paul,
Do you have any other problems where Internet access takes extra
time?

Do you run your own email server anywhere in your delivery path?

Maybe provide some configuration data - network IP addresses, etc. to
discuss a bit.

Evolution comes up and gets mail for me in about 15 seconds, so I
know it doesn't need to be that slow.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Mark

I'm having no problems whatsoever with the rest of my internet access. And when Evolution finally runs it down/uploads mail etc as it should. The problem is getting it running in the first place.

I have noticed (since looking the terminal window where I invoked it in the first place) that the following messages were generated as it tried to start up. Do these mean anything to anyone?

Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_signal_disconnect_by_data(): could not find handler containing data (0x81D2740)

Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_signal_disconnect_by_data(): could not find handler containing data (0x8156458)

Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_signal_disconnect_by_data(): could not find handler containing data (0x823D900)

evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot get /OfflineFolders/paths from ConfigDatabase -- IDL:Bonobo/ConfigDatabase/NotFound:1.0

Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_signal_disconnect_by_data(): could not find handler containing data (0x82EECB8)

Again, I appreciate your help.
