Hi Ross,
Well, I would not run xterm or mozilla from Evolution, but somebody may
want to. Or maybe something else, who knows. I use fluxbox with no
Icon's on desktop (which does not matter anyway since Evolution is full
screen).
About fetchmail, I have it set now to get mails every two minutes. That
is ok most of the time, but sometimes coworker sends me something and I
would like to get it right away. It is sort of like using evolution to
retrieve e-mails. In most cases you have automatic checking for e-mails
on, but sometimes you want to see if e-mail is there, so you press
send-receive manually.

dock/panel/kicker?
Running fetchmail every 5 minutes doesn't put a lot of load on the
system, as 90% of the time it is waiting for the network.
