Re: [Evolution] Spam Filter -- I need volunteers

What do you use? Bayesian filter?

I use a filtering technique *similar* to a Bayesian filter, but because
the conditions are usually Bayesian I didn't want to call it as such.

Also, from your mail it's not clear: is spam discarded? I'd advice
*strongly* against it - false positives do happen. Always, sooner or
later.

Actually, it is moved to a special folder. Deleting would be a bad ide.

Huh!? Ok, forget it.

Thanks for your summary dismissal. For those who might be interested in
hearing more, the labels are only needed because, unlike other filters,
you can "teach" my filter to understand spam, since it is based on
dynamic rules that are computed from your actual e-mail traffic. If you
use labels, then you can still use the filter, but you will lose this
capability.

For those who can easily install software on the computer receiving
their mail: use procmail and spamassassin and bogofilter (both are free
Software).

My setup:

 - mail comes in
 - mail goes through bogofilter
 - mail goes through spamassassin
a spamassassin rule gives a score if bogofilter said it's spam.
 - mail goes through bogofilter in learning mode
trains bogofilter according to the opinion of spamassassin
 - mail goes through procmail filtering, sorting mail into folders.

And exactly what happens if *you* happen to disagree with spamassassin?

Cheers,

Marco
