A vague annoyance is seen when saving an attachment in an email. When the save dialogue box is presented it will be pointing at some directory or other. Typically I'll want to traverse to some other directory and save there. Unfortunately, as soon as I move away from the initial directory, the suggested filename is removed from the bottom filename box, and I have to either type it in again, or copy it before traversing and then paste it when positioned at the required directory. This is in contrast with the MS clients which tend to leave the filename untouched as directories are traversed.
Unfortunately, this is not an Evolution problem. It seems to be an X problem. I've noticed it in several programs, mostly programs that are neither Gnome nor KDE based. KDE takes care of the problem pretty effectively, and I've noticed that some Gnome programs do as well, but not all of them. I agree it is an annoyance, and think the best solution would be something in the next Ximian Gnome distribution that maintains the filename when traversing directories, rather than losing it. That way, the solution would be unified in the underlying distribution, rather than being a separate solution for each program. -- All private email sent with PGP encryption. Email for key.
