All sounds great to me.  You may want to consider adding letter dividers
to help find a particular letter quicker when page scrolling or dragging
the scroll bar.  For instance, if you have many contacts and want to
quickly find John Smith, you can grab the scroll bar and scan the
dividers for 'S' (probably a larger, bolden font).  It can be colored
and/or shaded for easy identification.
Also nice would be to support jumping the the letter pressed on the
keyboard.  So if the list has focus, and the user clicks the letter 'S',
it will automatically scroll to the first entry starting w/ 'S'.
