Tonight I went ahead and applied the
patch_id3lib_3.8.3_UTF16_writing_bug.diff
recompiled and replaced the original .deb with the new one.
It didnt help.
The program crashed twice tonight with similar backtraces as already
posted.
Any help is appreciated
