There is a plan to move beagle to .Net-2.0 pretty soon (this or next
release). Would the filter break in that case ?

Nope, all the XmlTextReader based filters will continue to work the
same, but for the sake of future proofing they should probably be
fixed to use the new XmlReader creation method
