I don't get the initial log, but I did get the temporary lock-up and mtp messages about the connection failing and retrying after a reset, before I found the ordering work-around that I mentioned.
If I run mtp-detect at that point then I get the same mtp messages, though, so I put it down to an issue with claimed devices and the mtp protocol rather than banshee.

You know what happens in Banshee when this occurs? Does Banshee hang? I ask because I think this is the case in this reported bug:
