I think there is nothing the Banshee team can do due to Sqlite, besides
referring to the ppa / bugs. The ppa was published on launchpad bug
68878 <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sqlite3/+bug/688781> by
Sameer Morar <https://launchpad.net/%7Esmorar>. I installed already the
new Sqlite lite version from it and it is a difference between day and
night (much smoother scrolling, faster playing of tracks when clicking).

However, there are still some delays while switching playlist on the
order of seconds and high CPU usage. I will let you know about any
regressions.

Good sunday so far :)

I've been watching this thread for the past few days, and I've also been feeling some of these performance hits in Maverick with Daily Banshee.

Updating SQLite with the aforementioned PPA is... like night and day. Banshee still pegs one of my CPU threads whenever it's about to change tracks, but it does it without any noticeable delay now. No regressions to note as of yet.

Thanks for the hard work Banshee team!

There is now a ppa for a newer Sqlite version

Thank you I will update the article to include instructions to use
this instead of the kitten violating ones currently there.

However I am not going to invest much more time getting Maverick
fixed, that is up to Ubuntu in my opinion. I told them how and
repeatedly explained that no users had reported regressions in Banshee
or in other applications after performing the update (if you do,
please do tell me or update the launchpad bug in the OMG! Ubuntu!
article) hoping at least to get the update considered so Banshee won't
perform poorly for testers and users on Maverick.

I have more than enough to do with Banshee bugs, I am not going to
take time away unduly to further justify fixing this Ubuntu regression.

So I am very happy you setup a PPA carrying a version I can point
reporters towards, it is a very useful assistance to Banshee to have
these things available.
