Glad I'm not alone here. I had to killall banshee-1 as well to fix it. I don't think banshee crashed before hand though, just starting unresponsive or with no window at all as was stated above. I like the idea of a dialog box with an error and instructions. I've been unable to find out when and why this happens. In the last two days I've tried to replicate it countless times and each time it starts without fail. A dialog box would certainly be easier than tracking this thing down since it appears so infrequently.
