Are you on Gnome 2.24? AFAIK GVFS from 2.24 should support apps that
_don't_ know what gio/gvfs is. I'm not sure what the actual status of
that is but I'll try and report.
A good enough substitute is automounter that will mount the share if
it's available and some program tries to access it. Still, the biggest
problem is when the share is not at hand, then Banshee hangs, or
crashes, or whatever.
What I do know, is that there are some problems with FUSE mounts and
Banshee. Namely you can't use the actual mount unless you symlink to it
or use a subfolder of the mount.
