Wow, it's working great, thanks for your efforts!
I found a solution for the connection-problem as well: setting the 
auto-closing of mailboxes to one minute. Browsing 5 mailboxes within 
one minute rarely happens, so that's ok for now as well.

Fully back to balsa now. :)

Only one unmentioned problem left now... *g* But I need some more 
investigation first to precise that.
