Hi,
for me the problem is not solved. But I think the problem is also a
little different. Anjuta does remember the settings that I choose in the
Preferences. But somehow they are not really applied. For example the
checkbox "Use tabs for indentation" is not checked but still scintilla
is inserting tabs. I have the option "White Space" enabled, so I see
that very quickly. If I deactivate some of the checkboxes such as "White
Space" or "Use tabs for indentation", then Anjuta does remember it
though a restart.
Even more interesting is the fact, that if I apply the workaround
(select "Use tabs", close, deselect "use tabs", close), then this is
only applied for the currently open file, if I switch to another tab,
then it will still use tabs...
I do have the packages dconf-gsettings-backend and dconf-service
installed, but not dconf. However other applications work just fine.
I have also found the following errors related to anjuta in xsession errors:

These warnings all appear several times in the .xsession-errors file.

Hi John!
So I checked, and it seems a diagnostic comes up saying
'GSettings will be using the Memory backend' causing all info to
be lost between sessions...
Installing dconf solved all problems!
If it's not too complicated, a warning from anjuta would be nice
Well, the GSettings warning *is* the warning. I wonder if any
distribution installs GSettings without installing dconf. Ubuntu
hopefully doesn't (or only in broken update environments).
This is certainly not Anjuta specific but will apply to all applications
from GNOME 3.4 on.

Johannes
