Here is the story (I don't know how to build a test case from this
szenario):

Select no window in gnome and press F1. You will get an error message:

Application "gnome-help" (process XXXX) has crashed due a fatal error
(Segmentation fault)

from none, klick on the desktop so that no window will be selected

in beta 5 on x86-64 it (Help Browser) will be loaded, but only the left side
will have content, on the right side there will be the text "loading ..." all
the time. Does not matter if you click on another headline in the left frame.

on x86-64 there is a known bug with yelp ( more detailed libxml, ... is
working on it) I can confirm help works as stanislav described on beta5,
i386
