[Usability] Random: gDesklets + notification area

Please pardon me if this message isn't particularly coherent. I've been
awake too many hours, but I had this thought and felt I should make note
of it. I hope my judgement isn't as lacking as my sleep.

What if we sought to combine gDesklets - though, really, something very
similar without the "on desk" part - with the notification area? Small
gDesklet-like windows could be available on request - or when urgent -
from tiny displays in the notification area. They could be like pop-up
applets. The notification area, being on a stay-above panel, would provide
more direct access than the desktop.

I'm not at all sure the purposes of gDesklets and the notification area
would blend well, but maybe it's something to look into.
