I think options *can* be our UI enemies. Look at the sawfish or the
pannel capplets.

Correct, we don't want to code the same functionality twice, maintain
two codebases and debug them.
Also think about how "customizable" is the MAC/OS. I would not expect to
see any UI customizations of this kind in a Machintosh. I believe that
we need to make this kind of desitions.
