I think this was my fault, something with building in
non-standard way to try to make it work on Centos with it's
outdated software. However, the error message is confusing,
since it doesn't include the actually program path:
(unless (zerop (call-process process nil gtkrc-style-program))
(error "Can't start gtkrc-style-program"))))
It would be nice if this did include the value of
gtkrc-style-program variable in the message.
