Re: [orca-list] Disable Row/Column announcements.

oh yes, indeed. it's much better. thanks !

we will have to see what happens on tables that are not very compliant, in particular when reading the headers of the table on each line.

in short, I will test, and I will come back if I have questions :)

Thanks for everything you do

Go into the Orca preferences for Firefox or Chrome/Chromium. On the
last page tab you'll find a section called "Table Navigation". It
includes checkboxes for announcing cell headers, announcing cell
coordinates, skipping blank cells, etc.

hello,

I don't see much difference

The lines and colones are always announced when I sail with Tab even
if
I uncheck "Advertise the tables during navigation".

In thunderbird, the lines are announced when I sail with the bottom
arrow.

It is possible that I did not understand what to test too :)

Thanks for the quick replies! In terms of testing, you can now give
this a try in Orca master. Mind doing so?

The other thing I need to figure out is what to do about the stable
branch. I foolishly figured that I was fixing a reported bug rather
than making people miserable. *grins* So this new presentation
landed
in Orca 42.2. Oops. Live and learn. Anyhow, based on the feedback
here,
my choices are revert that change or make it governed by the
structural
navigation settings. Or come up with a third idea that does not
involve
new settings, new strings, new UI, etc. And once a decision has
been
made, roll out a 42.3 apology release.

hello,

I think we need more information when you sail in table mode (Alt
Shift
Arrows) than you sail with Tab.I think that if we deactivate
everything
or nothing, we will miss things at some point. But it's hard to
say
without tested

Here is my modest contribution

I don’t have any problem with these settings applying to both
structural and tab navigation. I personally think that what I
want
spoken in one case I want spoken in all cases. That's just my
use
case though, so anyone with a different opinion please jump in.
