Re: [orca-list] LibreOffice and orca: moving to headings, links, tables etc.

Hello,
Back to the libreoffice discussion.
Libreoffice writer has so called navigator feature. Show / hide the navigator by pressing F5 or find it under View menu.
When focus is inside the document content pressing F5 brings up a treeview. Root nodes of that treeview are control types you might be interested in. Level 1 items represent the actual content including heading at level 1. Level 2, level 3 etc are headings at that level. If you find a heading or another control you are interested in just press enter key to jump to that part of the document.
So this is not screen reader specific everyone including non screen reader users can get this feature for free.

Greetings

Peter

M biggest problem with Orca and Google Docs is that when one goes into a table in Google Docs, with screen reader and braille mode enabled, Orca is very sluggish. This doesn't happen with Windows screen readers.

I hadn't tried Braille mode. Will do.

Hello,

Have you given Braille mode a try?

Thanks.

I tried Google docs initially, but I observe that Orca cannot perform a read all, nor can I switch between focus and browse modes when accessibility is enabled in Google docs. I'm using Orca 40 and firefox as my primary browser.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the helpful info. Are there alternative word processors that
work better with Orca and support navigation commands?

Kind regards,

John
