Re: [orca-list] jenux probably better alternative to manjaro talking

I went into the x86_64 directory of the suse tumbleweed disk and found
nothing of orca in that directory. However I did find brltty along with
several supporting packages. I tried brltty -s fl fv sd xs auto
and couldn't bring brltty speech up and I don't have a braille display
here so had no other options to try in this instance. Maybe leap is
better out of the box but for sure tumbleweed is not as good any more.

As near as I can tell, orca isn't on tumbleweed but can be installed with
a one click install. I don't know if it's on leap either, but that's the
next thing I'll check out.

Some things got changed since last I installed this.
First, when you hear a beep for boot, either hit f2 or f9 or f11 or f12 or
escape t6o get into the boot menu. That's machine-dependent.
This wasn't even necessary the last time I did this.
One article talked about installing kde which is construction zone
accessible "Hard Hats worn beyond this point". I don't know if other
desktops can be installed though that was possible in the past when I
installed gnome.
I did not manage to get orca talking yet, maybe this will use ktts or
kmouth. It's also possible that all of the accessibility stuff has been
stripped out of tumbleweed.
I'm going to try boot options then try bringing up speech and will let you
know what happens on this end. I recommend holding off on this distro for
the time being. If I get a way in, maybe you'll be able to follow.

Ah that's the one I downloaded, so is that the one you'ree referring to being
easy to install? If so I can spin up a Virtualbox VM and see how it goes

Yes, that was a netinstall if memory serves.

Do you mean the net install or? That's the one that I get when googling
OpenSuse Tumbleweed download. I'd like to try it and see how it stacks up
vs
Ubuntu and Arch and so on

Last time I did that, orca was available but that was before alt-super-s
shortcut got widely used. The most difficult part of that install was
getting an url that would download suse tumbleweed. It's not easily
found.

Hello there,

How can you get Suse Tumbleweed to install without help? I have tried, no
luck
on my end.

Thanks for any answer.

Best regards.

Francisco.

Last time I checked kali linux had a very accessible installer you start
it up the same way you start a debian accessible install. Another I
managed to get installed was suse tumbleweed.
