Re: [orca-list] Fedora 34, totally distorted speech in live CD

Does the distortion go away after a minute or so of use?

May be that the bug where sound distorts for a bit but returns under Fedora is back. It seemed to occur immediately after Pulse started.

And yeah, I thought some sort of speech-dispatcher upgrade fixes that, but did it get broken again under whatever this decade's Linux audio stack is? :P If Pipewire is using the same or similar initialization code, or if speech-dispatcher's interaction with Pipewire is triggering whatever conditions caused the former issues...might be worth looking into.

Hi there!

When downloading the Fedora 34 beta image and starting it in a VM, then pressing Super+Alt+S to start Orca,
speech is totally distorted and in essence does not work. I can shut down Orca again, and the distorted
noises stop, but in essence: Unlike the Fedora 33 live CD, the 34 live CD is totally broken what Orca is
concerned.

Two questions:

a) Is this known? I think I saw it mentioned somewhere that it was, and that it was hoped to be fixed, but I
cannot find that reference any more. Also, Redhat's Bugzilla is not helping. Is there a bug on file for this,
and where can I find it if that's the case?

2. Is there a way to install Fedora 34 without installing that live image first, and is there a chance the
sound will work, then?

The reason I am asking about the beta: I would like to try out GNOME 40.

Thanks!
