Re: [orca-list] Orca Settings - Stop saying the word "capital" in front of capital letters?

Just install Slint on the new laptop and be happy.

Questions? irc.freenode.net, channel #slint

Was just using the Default synthesizer that comes with the latest
version of Linux Mint, which for all intents and purposes, is Ubuntu.

Flipped over to eSpeak, and same thing though. Then flipped to that
"Magri" one or whatever it's called, and sound disappeared, so back to
the old laptop for now. :-)

Hello there,

Yeah, my guess as well. I know for a fact Espeak ng, RHvoice and IBMTTS with
Voxin, all English voices, don’t do it, never happened to me at least.

Which Sinth are you using?

My guess is the synthesizer is doing that.

Thanks, appreciate it. Yeh, I found that Capitalization combobox,

and

have it set to None, so good there.

However, when I'm scrolling through words / text using the right and

left arrows it still says "capital" in front of capitalized letters.

That's the one I want to get rid of, but can't seem to find where.

Any tips?

Hi there,

First off, congrats on the laptop, glad you got it running!

Second off, to answer your question, in the voice tab, there's a

setting

called "Capitalization style". You can select none, icon, or spell.

I

have it set to none, and Voxin, in my case, goes higher pitch when

Orca

encounters a capital letter.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hi folks,

Good news is, got my new laptop up and running, so yay for me!

Considering I've been using Orca for over four years, you'd think

I'd

know this, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Maybe it changed

in

the settings somewhere?

Anyway, how do I get it to stop saying capital ltters as "captial

A,

captial B", and so on? It keeps saying the word "capital" before

the

letter, and I want to get rid of that so it's just that high-

pitched

voice for capitals, but doesn't say the word "capital" each time.

Sorry for such a beginner question, but where in the Orca

settings is

that? Can't find it anywhere now.

Thanks,

Matt
