Re: [orca-list] Ubuntu Mate 20.10 installer

I haven't tried it with this version, but in past versions, when speech quit
in the installer, I did alt Q to quit and speech came back, and I cancelled
the quit and resumed the installation.

Confirming 20.10 still has the installer issue. Also that said
workaround of logging out and back in again makes the installer
accessible to Orca again. However, I wouldn't advise installing this
version because I noticed that one gets no speach on the login window. I
was able to log back in, hence finding out the installer state with Orca
but it wasn't fun. Even keystroke of starting up Orca or run application
command didn't give me speach. eventually, it was: alt F2 then type:
orca -s which brought back speach for me. So yeah, advise skipping this
version. Up to the indevidual of course though.

I would just like to add. If one can't find the: try ubuntu mate
button then do the following.

Once you have alt tab over to the installer, do the following do
dismiss it.

alt space to bring up the context menu.

Hit the letter C for Charlie for the close item.

Finally, press enter now or tab once then press the enter key.

This should dismiss the installer. Now precead to continue to logout /
sign back in.

Just saying all this in case you are completely dependent on orca.

The above keystrokes enabled me to dismiss the installer and I hope it
helps anyone else out.

I, too, thank you for the tip. On a related note: how do I get
speech in the login greeter for 20.10?

Orca with 20.4 LTS
