Re: [orca-list] Source code editor

Also depending on programming language emacs has modes that can be
installed which help make emacs work better with that kind of source
code. One example is python-mode which if I remember properly provides
autocompletions and indentation assistance.

Note that emacspeak and speechd-el take very different approaches to emacs. emacspeak wants to make all
kinds of custom things that are specific to emacspeak and may not translate well at all to other people or
instances of emacs. Speechd-el just lets emacs be emacs with the addition of spoken feedback.

Emacspeak is also a great extension for Emacs. It tries to make Emacs into the complete audio desktop,
but I mainly use it as a text editor and Twitter client on Mac sense everything else costs $20 or so.

I recommend emacs that can be made accessible with speechd-el.

I'm using emacs but I've never check how to configure auto completion. You should ask the speedd-el
user list to get more details.

Emacs is not the easiest editor to learn but when you know how it works it's more productive. I
personally find it more efficient than eclipse for my needs.

The program Geany in its lastest version should be accessible but I've never tried it.

Best regards,
Alex.

Hi,
Aside from Eclipse, does anyone know of any accessible source code editors? I need access to
autocomplete, snippets, and other basic features.
