It looks like the original message may have been trimmed, but I'm
running Firefox 58.0.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 with no problems.

You are
correct as Ubuntu upgraded to version 58 with security updates. I
will need to find a package for 52 (or find time to create one)
and then remember not to upgrade that package.

Hi Tom,
Can you tell me the Firefox version you're using? It seems
you're using version 57 or later.
Have you tried using Firefox version 52 ESR?

I finally got a chance to run accerciser with firefox and
I see no events from firefox in the event tree. It has been a
while since I ran accerciser so I
may be missing something but I suspect a bigger problem
here.

I installed orca 3.26 and there is no
difference. I did test it to be sure it did not work with
either speech or braille and
niether one works. My wife tells me it comes
up in the address bar and tab takes you through the page but you
can't prove it by
me.
In the settings, on the security tab, there is a
checkbox to block assistive technologies, could you check with
your wife if this box is
unchecked?
Best regards.
