Re: [orca-list] Please test Orca master (has a hack around for Caja + Nautilus large-folder flood)

WOW! Testing both pull requests together, one of my large folders has a large number of mostly small files, and still takes about 6 to 8 seconds to load. However, the other large folder, which contains mostly folders, loads almost immediately. This 6 to 8 second load time on my largest folder, which actually has a ton of both folders and individual files, is a huge improvement over the roughly 25 seconds to load the same folder with only the name change pull request, and is an order of magnitude better than the nearly 1 minute with no Orca hack and no pull request being tested, i.e. as caja 1.20 and Orca 3.28 would load the same folder. I am currently attributing the 6 to 8 second load time to the fact that I'm fairly certain that Caja is most likely looking up some magic on each file to determine its file type, and they all need to be opened from a mechanical drive, as I can see the rather bright light on my drive blinking for that amount of time as the files are read. I'm certain that on SSD media, this load time would not be even 1 second. In any case, this much faster load time for even my largest and most disorganized folder is equivalent to the load time I experienced when stopping Orca, opening the folder and restarting Orca, but without the unwanted complication of having to do all that. Congratulations and a HUGE thank you! Caja is very much usable now, even in worst case folders! Did I say thank you? I'm definitely using this build, and hope both PR's get approved and merged into Caja 1.22, or even better, a 1.20 point release.
