Guys,
Some of you probably remember me from way back
when. I know there was lots of badness that I caused, but I'm asking you all to
give me a fair chance. I've grown up quite a bit, and have matured immensely.
Anyway, that outta the way... LOL...
I finally have decided to really try devoting time
to learning Linux, more specifically, Ubuntu, and really, and I do mean, really!
am loving what I'm seeing so far.
To be frankly honest, I'm so fed up with Windows,
it's not even funny, in some situations!
Don't get me wrong, I like Windows for some things,
though that's rapidly becoming less and less as I discover new things that I can
do with Linux, and how easy they are to achieve. Plus, though I hate ESpeak, I
have finally managed to get Voxin working rock solid, and I do mean, rock solid,
so with my hearing loss... yeah... further, I now, unlike before even have
access to a few braille displays. I gotta Pacmate Omni BX 20, an Alva Satelite
80 via USB, and recently acquired a used Braille-Sense OnHand.
Further, I am finding that I'm getting much better
than I was before at reading docs, and menipulating conf files. I still have a
real long ways to go, but at least now, I'm in an ideal setup whereby things are
much easier for me to work with.
BTW, Kyle, if you are on this list, I know you and
I talked back before our major blowup about me running a dule boot of Linux and
Windows. Now, I say, forget it! I have Ubuntu natively on my HP laptop, which,
long story short, has 4GB ram, a 500GB internal platter drive, 3 USB 3.0 ports,
an HDMI port, an SD card reader, an internal CD/DVD reader/writer, on board
microphone/webcam, very good internal speakers, 15 inch display, I5 processor.
So, yeah, this is a very very! nice system, and believe me. Ubuntu 16.04 screams
on this thing!
Anyway, I'm glad to be back. Keep an eye out, as I
do have a question I'm gonna be posting here in a few minutes.
Chris.
