Re: [orca-list] gnome-shell slownes

Yeah, no rocket sled, similar to what I'm running here, but much better than a celeron, all single core i
THINK.
The constant changing of naming schemes over the life of pentiums make it a full time job to keep all
CPPPPPPU names in clear focus...lol.
Cellerons are the economy processers, and running gnome3 on single corfe machines will likely lead to many
times where annoying lags occur. Of course
avoid doing any multitasking that will tax the CPU, and put as much RAM as you can in to the machine, 2GB at
least, but 3 for 32bit boxes, and 4 or more
for 64bit hardware helps.
Mate should do pretty well on 1.5-2gigs of RAM.

I have archlinux, gnome 3.18, and the same applies for 3.16.
When I press a windows key, there is a noticeable (second or more?) delay
when going to overview, and then when typing characters (I have intel
celeron cpu and that may be the issue too).

I can't reproduce this under GNOME 3.16. However, the processor on my machine
may be faster than yours.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz

It's a laptop purchased in 2008 with only 2GB of RAM, so "fast" and "modern"
it certainly is not.
