Hi,
I can confirm that from the run screen modifier plus space does not
bring the Orca preferences to focus.
Once I push escape I can task switch to find the open preferences window.

You think correctly. I just tried Alt+F2, then Insert+Space using master
and wound up in Orca's preferences dialog. Send me the debug.out you
capture -- or just look for the traceback that suggests something bad
happened with settings or your orca-customizations and provide that
here. If that is indeed what's taking place, the traceback should
hopefully be pretty obvious.
