GSettings is already used by Orca and AT-SPI2 (to get/set accessibility
support being enabled, to get/set if the screen reader has been toggled
on), so I assume that using it a bit more will not impact other desktops.
Libpeas is used by quite a few apps (e.g. It's in pluma, MATE's editor).
So it is my assumption that this also will not have any impact.

How will gsettings and libpeas support, in orca, impact fit with other
desktops? I understand the desire for tighter GNOME integration.

That said, there are periodically features that a few people want, but
are not widely wanted and/or are not something one would consider core
screen reader functionality. Those should be plugins which can then be
maintained outside of Orca. For that sort of thing we need to implement
libpeas support in Orca.
