In Orca, braille displays aren't treated very well, at least from what I can
tell. My APH refreshabraille shows the braille fine, besides not
word-wrapping at the end of lines of braille, but it also doesn't allow me
to type in braille or control Orca with braille commands. How can I fix
this?
Arrange for someone with appropriate interest and expertise to contribute to
Orca development, or at least, write good bug reports that describe the
issues.
I'm running Orca 3.14.3 with liblouis installed, but even so, I haven't been
able to get contracted braille to work.
Apparently, liblouis does support the necessary features for word wrap, but
Orca doesn't take advantage of them, according to the author of liblouis, John
Boyer.
There's undoubtedly more work to be done here - a real problem for an
under-resourced project. Linux distributors, especially the commercial ones
who gain financially from the software created by the community, really need
to pool their resources and fund a significant accessibility development
effort.
