Hey José.
I believe I have fixed this. Could you please pull master and verify?
Thanks!

Ok, I found something very interesting.
After I assigned a new key bind, I opened the userSettings.conf file and
found the following configuration:
"flatReviewCopyHandler": [
[
"c",
"365",
"272",
"1"
]
],
Then I opened an old userSettings.conf and found the following:
"flatReviewCopyHandler": [
[
"c",
"365",
"256",
"1"
]
],
Then I changed in my new userSettings from 272 to 256 and BINGO!
It works.
Definitely something is wrong, but I do not know where!
Thanks.

Hi Peter.
Thanks for the response.
Definitely something is wrong in my environment.
I can not assign new key bindings even using orca 3.12.
The difference is that I am using a laptop.
Thanks.

Hello,
Most likelly something strange is going on here.
I have tried to do exactly what you are describing and I seem to be
unable to reproduce your issue.
I have never touched profile specific settings. While trying to
reproduce I did exactly what you are describing and nothing more:
- moved ~/.local/share/orca to ~/.local/share/orca.bak
- Disabled orca by pressing alt+super+s,
- Enabled orca by pressing alt+super+s
- Pressed orca+space bar, changed keyboard layout from desktop to laptop
on the general tab of the screen reader preferences window, tabbed to OK
button and activated by pressing the enter key. I should emphasize that
I did not touch other controls in the screen reader preferences window.
- Pressed capslock+space to open the screen reader preferences window
again and this time I have found report time entry in the list on the
keyboard shortcut tab of the screen reader preferences window, navigated
to the shortcut column, pressed spacebar to edit the corresponding cell,
pressed capslock+r to enter a new keyboard command, confirmed the choice
by pressing the enter key, tabbed and activated the ok button.
- After the screen reader preferences window disapeared I was able to
press capslock+r to get the current time reported.
I have tried to give as much details as I can so we can identify
possible differences.
Greetings
Peter

Hi Joanie and all.
This is not related to caret nav but IMHO needs attention if confirmed.
To reproduce try the following steps using latest orca from master:
1. Rename ~/.local/share/orca to something.
2. Launch orca.
3. Press insert+space and modify the keyboard layout to laptop.
4. Tab to the ok button and press enter.
5. Press caps_lock+space and chose the key bindings tab.
6. Reassign the function present current time to caps_lock+r.
7. Tab to the ok button and press enter.
8. Press caps_lock+r.
In my environment the time is not announced.
Now try to reassign the present current time to caps_lock+t and press
caps_lock+t.
Again the time is not announced.
Resuming:
In my environment, if I remove my configurations, I can not assign a
key to a orca function.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.
