Hi Kendell, and thanks for the quick reply.  I actually forgot about 
ctrl+alt+d, so thanks for reminding me of that.  Unfortunately though, 
that didn't work.  What happens is when I launch orca after logging into 
Mate, I get a dialogue that says report problem, and whether I hit 
report or cancel I lose speech.  Is there some way I have to enable 
accessibility?  Thanks for the help though, and I'm looking forward to 
getting this up and running.
