That sounds like it might be what's described in:

And if that's indeed what you're experiencing, it's not something I
can fix in Orca. As you'll see in my opening report on that bug, I was
able to make Thunderbird go completely non-responsive for 5 seconds on
a performant system without Orca running.

This next one on the other hand:

and while typing. It sometimes even stops responding when you type.
Ok, to be more clear, it still types, but orca stops announcing new
characters.

I'd like to know more about and look into. Is this something you can
reliably reproduce, and if so could you provide me with the steps to
do so?
