Re: [orca-list] Your opinion on radio button and check box presentation?

Hi Peter and Joanie,

Peter, so you would like following form?
Examples:
1. Present peter name in the dialog check box checked.
2. Name presentation: Peter radio button selected (or radio button
checked state message).
The second example name presentation: is an example label, peter meaning
the selected radiobutton value, and selected is the state message.
I think both situations good the checked state and unchecked state,
perhaps half checked check boxes is the partialy checked state.
Selected and unselected state messages I think not good with radio
buttons related, because a radio button group only one radiobutton
element possible selecting. You are right, non visual impaired
translators possible missunderstand what want meaning this messages.
With multi select lists or tree tables for example good the selected and
unselected messages, because not only one element possible selecting or
unselecting in the list if the user hold down the CTRL key if moving the
list.
This messages meaning full clear with lists related.
Selected and unselected message difficulting the translation this
messages only radio buttons related, if the translator want defining
different localization messages for radiobutton states. If more places
defined the selected and unselected messages, Gettext will merge this
messages with one place in the translation file, so lost the
customization in the translation only with radio buttons related. If
english language users would like selected and unselected state messages
for radiobuttons related, perhaps solve the problem this radiobutton
state messages to need defining a context operation before translatable
messages, similar with other places in the Orca translations. If this
method working, english language users will be hearing selected and
unselected messages for radiobuttons related, but have possibility to
free translate this messages only with radio buttons related if need a
different translation this situation.

If I missunderstand the thread purpose, very sorry.

Attila
