Super-f10 doesn't bring up a list of applications. It should bring up
the currently focused application's menu. Super-a brings up what looks
like an arrow-navigable list of most frequently or either recently
opened applications. This may not be working if you have upgraded from
previous versions of gnome-shell, but these are default 3.8 keyboard
commands if you don't already have previous GNOME settings. If you are
not seeing the desired behavior when pressing either super-f10 or
super-a, try removing your ~/.config and ~/.local/share directories. I
know this seems like a bad idea, but it can fix a few other glitches in
the upgrade from 3.6 to 3.8 as well. You will need to reconfigure many
of your applications, but it's the most effective solution I've found so
far.
