OK, do this :
install orca-git from the aur
then, in .xinitrc put
exec gnome-session

and then type
startx
then
press super
type orca
press enter
when you have orca working :
press super
type gnome-control-center
press enter
go to the "universal access" option
select "screen reader"
this insures orca starts  when typing startx in the future.
