Hi,

You what TTS and speech synth language using when experienced this issue?
I not reproduced this issue under Ubuntu 14.04, Orca latest master 
branch release with Speech-dispatcher 0.8 Espeak module and hungarian 
language of Espeak.
If I press ' character, Espeak wonderful spokening me the proper 
hungarian translation the apostrophe character.
Same result I experienced if I press the quote character. If I goto this 
characters the left arrow key, Orca or Espeak spokening me the proper 
translation.
