Re: [orca-list] Speech-Dispatcher 0.8-3 available in Fedora testing

The closest I have been able to find to a gsettings command that might work
in Fedora is this:

https://wiki.debian.org/accessibility

If you look in the GDM heading, there is a gsettings command which I did
make work in my debian installation. I think porting it to Fedora is merely
a question of determining the user analogous to debian-gdm. I did find that
there was a gdm user but when I ran the command it wanted that user's
password and I don't have it nor do I know how to acquire it.

There's my contribution. Maybe someone will pick it up and run with it
until they crack it.

I expect there's a gsettings command, or something like it, but I don't know
the command. If anyone knows, please advise and I'll post the info via
SpeakupModified.org which is due for some updating.

I used some instructions previously posted here involving Ctrl-Alt-TAB
followed by some amount of tab and then some amount of down arrow. Sorry I
don't have that info at hand. Perhaps someone can repost that? It's also
something that should go on the web page.

Fortunately, it's a one time setting thing.

Cool. I will run this command tonight on my Fedora installation and
report findings. I have been wanting a talking gdm on there and
haven't gotten one. Is there a gsettings command for me to enable it
in case it hasn't been enabled when I enabled screen reader accessibility
on the desktop?

Thanks.

Finally, Fedora is updating Speech-Dispatcher to 0.8-3. You can get it
now with a command like:

sudo yum --enablerepo=*test* update speech-dispatcher

It looks like some of the bugs against Fedora speech-dispatcher
reported here (and to Fedora Bugzilla) over the past few months may be
getting fixed via this upgrade. Among other things, it seems that
speech in GDM may now be OK.
