An iPod Nano or an iPod Shuffle may also meet your needs and be a bit
less overkill.
I used to have and love my Stone, but when I moved up to a Sansa running
Rockbox and then a Booksense, I don't pull out my Stone any more, and I
haven't kept up with the MP3 player field to see what's out there that
is comparable to the Stone.
A player running Rockbox may also be something worth considering. You'll
have a bit more functionality than you had on the Stone, but they'll be
significantly cheaper than an iPod Touch.
BTW, I'm thinking this is off topic for this list. Unfortunately, I
don't have an alternative to suggest, since the list I was on to get
info on general MP3 players turned into an iDevices list, and I stopped
following that list.

This might be overkill but, how about an iTouch? I've become rather fond of
the iDevices in recent months after experiencing firsthand just how
wonderfully accessible they are. You can usually get a pretty good price on
a used one on eBay if a new one is out of your reach. Just have someone
turn Voice over on for you and you should have no trouble navigating it. It
does quite a bit more than an just an mp3 player. You can even download the
bookshare app and have a daisy player with audio books in the palm of your
hand.

Subject: [orca-list] [completely OT]: Looking for a new MP3-player
Hello everyone!
My MP3-player just broke down and I'm looking for something new. I had a
Creative Zenstone, but they're no longer made or at least no longer sold in
Germany. I don't ask much of my player, but, I'd like easy volume control,
next and previous track, forward/rewind (could skip on that) and next
folder.
I do need a player, that can play tracks sorted by name. I can compromise on
the length of name in which to sort. I'm so used to renaming files to 01.mp3
from bad players by now, that this wouldn't matter too much.
Any good suggestion?
Kind regards and sorry for the off-topic
Julien
