I have a copy of the Windows 8 Developer Preview installed as a guest in 
VirtualBox, and it kind of crawls, too. It sounds like the swap file 
method could be a bit of a problem, too, so I guess the only other 
option would just be a standard dual boot system. Fortunately, a lot fo 
the computer science professors at my local Junior college are Linux 
users, so they are very flexible; but unfortunaely...some things 
(meaning proprietary software which only works in Windows) just have to 
be done under Windows.

It seems like Windows 8 has the same requirements of windows vista or 
windows 7, but (interestingly enough) you cna use your Windows Live ID 
to login to your system if you hve an Internet connection. for the most 
part, I'll keep my applications on my own system, thank you.

Okay...sorry for my rant. But all in all, it seems like a standard dual 
boot system would probably be the best and the safest way to do things.
