Re: [orca-list] First time trying linux

Hi Nickus,

As you are a new user to Linux I recommend trying Vinux because it has
been designed out of the box for a blind user. Accessibility features
such as Orca have been preconfigured for maximum accessibility out of
the box and will get you started on the road to learning Linux and its
adaptive technologies without having to perform a custom setup of
these features on your own. Later on after you master the essentials
you can try Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, or whatever you want. However, I
think it is a good idea to try a distribution like Vinux where
accessibility is a given out of the box.

Hi all
I'm new to this list and new to linux, in fact I haven't even
downloaded it. I basically so far used windows with jaws mostly but
also NVDA all my life but want to try linux. Firstly which version
would be best to get to work with Orca, I did some reading and asking
around and it looks like most people is prefering mint over ubuntu but
I'm not sure which would be best in tirms of accessibility and best
for a total newby to linux.
