[orca-list] orca doesn't start when gnome does

I'm using gnome 3 and archlinux. I checked the box to have orca start 
automatically, however it still doesn't speak when i type startx from a 
command prompt. I'm afraid to even try gdm unless i know this thing is 
"definitly" going to start.
