hai sir,
I  am using  ubuntu-10.10
 few weak ago I had the same problem,
but I noted one thing, that is when we upgrade orca-2.31.2 or later  version,
now I am downgrade orca to 2.30.2. and changed my office package to libreoffice.
now I have no problem with office package, but I have missing some new
features   of orca.
I believe that this is the problem of orca not open office.
